I sit for long periods of time at my computer and get a very sore backside as well as having problems with my back. My tailbone seems to have a lot of pressure on it.
I have tried wedges as well as those with holes in them, but they seem to make my back worse.
I am desperate, so please reply to me at your earliest convenience.
Which are the best cushions for pressure care?
A. We make a whole range using various densities and materials, and in different covers. Check our Cushion Comparison chart to resolve which version suits your needs best.
Do I get better pressure dispersion the more I pay for a seat cushion?
A. Not necessarily. Some people like an eggfoam surface, some a Memory™ foam surface, some latex, and some an angled cushion. It’s a matter of personal preference and the application.
Are these cushions also useful for general use such as for taking to sporting events, the theatre, car etc?
A. Yes, particularly the Diffuser Cushion with its combination of Memory foam and Traditional foam, and of course the Multi Purpose Cushion in pressure-dispersing eggfoam. Very handy, very comfortable!
Do you have a cushion which is designed for post-operative use?
A. Yes, the Keyhole Cushion and the latex Relief Ring Cushion are recommended for post-natal or post operative discomfort, haemorrhoids, bruised coccyx and other painful afflictions involving sensitive areas. Both these designs leave the affected area relatively free of contact and therefore pressure-free.
Do you have cushions for wheelchairs?
A. All of our cushions are sized for use on wheel chairs as well as for normal every-day use. The two cushions that are used more than others for wheelchairs are the Diffuser Cushion in Memory™ foam and the Multi-Purpose cushion.
What benefits are there to angled cushions such as Posture Wedge or Keyhole cushion?
A. The angle of the Posture Wedge and the Keyhole Cushion encourages correct pelvic tilt to reduce pressure on lumbar discs. But it is not for everyone, and using an angled cushion is a personal preference thing. Be guided by your health professional.
Are the cushions washable?
A. Yes, see the care label attached to each product.
Do you have a cushion for helping prevent bed sores?
A. Yes, the Quad Cushion is specifically for use under the Achilles and also for under the lumbar region and knees while lying on your back in bed.
Could you please tell me which cushion would be suitable for me - the Memory Foam Diffuser Cushion or the Multi Purpose Cushion. I sit for long periods of time at my computer and get a very sore backside as well as having problems with my back. My tailbone seems to have a lot of pressure on it. I have tried wedges as well as those with holes in them, but they seem to make my back worse.
A. I sit on the Diffuser at my desk! Seriously though, it is a personal thing and all we can say is that both the Diffuser and the Multi Purpose Cushion do a good job. The Diffuser has the benefit of the layers of Memory foam which literally diffuse pressure. The Multi Purpose Cushion features eggfoam which also spreads the pressure, and provides a stable and reasonably soft platform. The MP is also less cost of course.
We make both products, so I don’t have a particular bias, but perhaps if you have the extra funds then Diffuser does the job nicely.
You won’t need a coccyx pillow (the one you suggest has the hole in it) because Diffuser spreads the pressure anyway and there is little or no pressure on the tailbone.
