• Sleeping on your side, with plenty of support for baby, allows maximum flow of oxygen and nutrients to the placenta and minimises swelling of ankles and feet.
• Keep off your back. After month four, the uterus is large enough to compress the major blood vessels (vena cava and aorta) that run along the right side of your spine. So when you lie down, lie on your LEFT SIDE. This prevents your uterus from pressing on the major blood vessels and promotes circulation to your uterus.
