6 Great Health Tips


  1. Keep Active: Make it a daily challenge to find ways to move.
    • Climb the stairs rather than take the escalators or lift
    • Walk your dog
    • Play with your kids
    • Kick a ball with friends
    • mow the lawn

  2. Lose That Fat
    • Eat the low fat versions of your favourite dairy products such as cheese, cottage cheese, milk and cream
    • Limit the amounts of nuts and sandwich meats, mayonnaise, margarine, butter and sauces that you eat
    • Avoid the obvious high fat foods such as fried foods, burgers and other fatty meats (i.e. pork, bacon, ham, salami and sausage)

  3. Pollution Can Be Harmful
    • Don’t exercise outside when the smog rating is high or near busy roads. Breathing in fumes is not a good idea
    • Avoid smoke-filled rooms

  4. Don't Drink to much
    • Follow the Australian Alcohol Consumption Guidelines because Drinking in excess of recommended low-risk levels can cause other health problems such as cancer, cirrhosis of the liver, brain damage, memory loss and sexual dysfunction.

  5. Think Positive
    • There's a definitive connection between being healthy and happy and having a cheerful outlook on life. Try the 'glass is half full' rather than the 'glass is half empty' approach.

  6. Stress Less Try some of these stress busters
    • Avoid difficult people when possible
    • Think positively
    • Spend 30 minutes a day doing something calming that you like. Such as soak in a bath, take a yoga class or meditate
    • Count to ten before taking action
